Nanny Cay Resort

All of the en suite hotel rooms feature air conditioning, ceiling fans, direct-dial telephone, cable TV, daily maid service and private balconies overlooking the picturesque marina or tropical gardens. The rooms at Nanny Cay also provide coffee maker, fridge, toaster, microwave, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Rooms offer either two queen size beds or one king size bed. There is also a Marina Suite with living room, separate bedroom and a kitchenette.

At Nanny Cay you can also rent luxurious 2 and 3 bedroom villas, each with its own boat dock. The villas are beautifully furnished and equipped to an extremely high standard. Close by is the beach at Nanny Cay, swimming pool and Peg Leg and Genaker restaurants.

Nanny Cay provides a free, Wi-Fi service throughout the property and there are computers for guests to use in the hotel lobby.

There is a freshwater swimming pool located right next to the beach and sun loungers for hotel guests to enjoy refreshing breezes and great views over to Norman Island and Peter Island. The pool is open to hotel and marina guests from 8am until sunset.

Nanny Cay also has a supermarket, boutique, spa and various other facilities available to visitors.

Caribbean Fly Fishing has the distinction of holding the exclusive rights for guided fly-fishing in the BVI. Fish the numerous flats surrounding Tortola for Bonefish, Tarpon and Permit. The Bonefish tend to be in the 6 – 10 pound range, Tarpon 40 – 100 pounds and Permit in the 15 – 45 pound range. Nanny Cay offers transportation via their 28′ Bertram. Once at the flats, you will be transferred to one of their custom built poling boats with a professionally trained guide. If you are interested in fishing – this is a must!

If you are a certified diver or want to learn to dive – look no further – Blue Water Divers has been operating out of Nanny Cay since 1980 and their divers are PADI certified instructors who know the best and most beautiful dive sites in the British Virgin Islands. The experience and interests of the divers involved determines the nature of their tours.

Dive the the wreck of the RMS Rhone (featured in the film “The Deep”) and marvel at the spectacular array of coral reefs and marine life. All equipment is available to rent and rest assured, it is quality gear. Cleaning your equipment afterwards is all done for you. All you have to do is turn up and enjoy your dive. You will be well taken care of by Blue Water Divers.

There are many stunning beaches on Tortola and Cane Garden Bay is around 20 minutes drive from Nanny Cay. Here you can rent sailing dinghies, stand-up paddle boards, kayaks and other beach “toys” or you can simply relax on the beach with your favourite cocktail.

West End ferry dock is 10 minutes drive from Nanny Cay and from here you can take a ferry to Jost van Dyke for the day. Even closer is Hannah Bay where you can catch the free ferry to Norman Island. Road Town is 10 minutes drive and here you can catch the ferry to Virgin Gorda or Anegada for the day. Everywhere is very accessible from Nanny Cay on Tortola.

Nanny Cay is host to the BVI Spring Regatta – one of the biggest in the Caribbean.

The Genaker Cafe is a popular meeting place right at the heart of Nanny Cay and close to the water’s edge. They serve excellent breakfasts and scrumptious lunches.

For dinner – Peg Leg on the beach and the Grill Shak are casual and offer great food. You can arrive in shorts, t-shirt and bare feet! They also provide take-away including tasty pizzas. Enjoy the buzzy atmosphere and interesting chat at the bar, then peruse the menu for the catch of the day or a nice juicy steak.

Island Roots not only provides a selection of clothes, but a speciality coffee bar serving various types of coffee and cake.

A visit to Captain Mulligan’s bar at Nanny Cay, BVI is a must! This is an open air bar featuring several large screens keeping you up to date with the main sporting events from around the world. Never miss Wimbledon again!

Nanny Cay is also conveniently close to Road Town, the capital of the British Virgin Islands, which offers a wide choice of places to eat and drink.

Travelling from the UK to the British Virgin Islands

The most direct way is from Gatwick to Antigua with British Airways and onwards to Tortola with inter-Caribbean Airways, which is also a non-stop flight. Virgin Atlantic fly from Heathrow to Antigua and the onward flight is with inter-Caribbean Airways to Tortola. Alternatively, BVI Holidays can charter a private aircraft just for you and your party. You will be met when you disembark your transatlantic flight and fast-tracked through immigration and customs and taken to your waiting aircraft.

Travelling from Scotland

Flights from Edinburgh and Glasgow can also be arranged to connect with the Gatwick and Heathrow flights on certain days. Flights from regional airports can be arranged through Paris or Amsterdam to St Maarten and onwards to the BVI.

Travelling from New York, Boston or Miami

If you would like to have a few nights in New York, Boston or Miami before heading to BVI, this can also be arranged. The onward flight is via Puerto Rico which is a 35 minute hop over to the British Virgin Islands or again, a private charter can be arranged.

There are no direct flights to the BVI which is why the islands remain unspoilt, uncrowded and uncommercialised. From the summer of 2023, there will be a flight from Miami direct to Tortola.
