Accommodation

Hermitage Bay offers 30 suites, 13 are positioned on the beach and the remaining 17 have been built on the hillside to maximise views and privacy. All suites face the sea and the views range from tropical gardens and the white-sand beach to spectacular panoramas of the bay, mangroves and distant harbour. Some of the hillside suites have plunge pools.

All rooms have King size beds, spacious verandah with comfortable lounging furniture, outdoor showers, air conditioning and ceiling fans. Pure and natural Aromatherapy Associates skincare products are provided and all rooms have an iPod docking station or a smartphone USB connection, flat screen TV, DVD player, free wi-fi, tea and coffee making facilities and a fully stocked mini bar.

Activities

Non-motorised water sports are complimentary at Hermitage Bay. Choose from snorkelling, windsurfing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boards, Hobie cats and Sunfish. Their friendly water sports team offers instruction or just general assistance to all guests. There is also a small, but well equipped fitness centre. Diving can be arranged for an additional charge.

Golf

There are two golf courses on Antigua The Jolly Harbour Golf Club, located just ten minutes from Hermitage Bay, and the Cedar Valley Golf Course, located 3 miles north of the capital, St. John’s.

The Jolly Harbour course is an established par 71, 18-hole championship golf course, and is open to visitors on a daily fee basis in addition to offering weekly, monthly and annual rates.

The Cedar Valley Golf Course is a par 70, 6,157 yard course that welcomes players of all levels. The club offers a 300 yard driving range and resident professionals available for private lessons.

Cookery

Hermitage Bay offers guests a cooking course/demonstration once a week, outdoors, on the deck by the main pool.

These courses support their philosophy of recognising how important food is to everyone’s enjoyment of their holiday, but adds the fun of cooking with local produce, some of which comes from Hermitage Bay’s organic kitchen garden, under the guidance of one of their fantastic chefs.

Deep Sea Fishing

Caribbean deep-sea fishing is second to none in the waters off Antigua, with marlin, king fish, wahoo and barracuda all common. Various charters with skippers are available.

Dining

At Hermitage Bay they endeavour to serve delicious meals made with the best, freshest and highest quality ingredients. The executive chef and his team deliver a 5-star varied menu, mixing the best of Modern European cuisine with Caribbean favourites and American classics.

Menus change daily and there is always an opportunity to try something new. They use locally-sourced produce wherever possible, ensuring that only the freshest ingredients are used. A large portion of the fruit and vegetables used is grown in Hermitage Bay’s very own organic garden.

Travelling to the BVI

Travelling from the UK to the British Virgin Islands

The most direct way is from Gatwick to Antigua with British Airways and onwards to Tortola with inter-Caribbean Airways, which is also a non-stop flight. Virgin Atlantic fly from Heathrow to Antigua and the onward flight is with inter-Caribbean Airways to Tortola. Alternatively, BVI Holidays can charter a private aircraft just for you and your party. You will be met when you disembark your transatlantic flight and fast-tracked through immigration and customs and taken to your waiting aircraft.

Travelling from Scotland

Flights from Edinburgh and Glasgow can also be arranged to connect with the Gatwick and Heathrow flights on certain days. Flights from regional airports can be arranged through Paris or Amsterdam to St Maarten and onwards to the BVI.

Travelling from New York, Boston or Miami

If you would like to have a few nights in New York, Boston or Miami before heading to BVI, this can also be arranged. The onward flight is via Puerto Rico which is a 35 minute hop over to the British Virgin Islands or again, a private charter can be arranged.

There are no direct flights to the BVI which is why the islands remain unspoilt, uncrowded and uncommercialised. From the summer of 2023, there will be a flight from Miami direct to Tortola.
