Activities

Between the months of November and March, the surf is up and provides many fun-filled hours for those who enjoy surfing and boogie boarding. Wake up, check the surf and be in the water with your board in less than a minute! If you do not have your own board, you can rent one at a reasonable cost from Sebastian’s on the Beach reception.

Sebastian’s on the Beach is only 10 minutes drive to Cane Garden Bay on Tortola where there is a great selection of watersports available. Here you can go dinghy sailing, kayaking, windsurfing and swimming from the beautiful white sand beach. You can also take a water taxi to Jost van Dyke or join one of the snorkelling trips to Sandy Spit, Green Cay, Sandy Cay etc..

If you like to dive, this can be arranged for you at Sebastian’s reception. There is an excellent dive facility just 10 minutes drive away at Nanny Cay.

You can also book a day sail from Soper’s Hole, Tortola – this is a great way to see some of the other British Virgin Islands with lunch and snorkel gear included.

If you like something a little more adventurous, book a tour with Original Virgin Canopy Tour. They are based out of Road Town, the capital of the British Virgin Islands and only 20 minutes drive from Sebastian’s on the Beach. This is an exhilarating experience and is a bit like zip-lining only safer and quieter. The views over Tortola are simply stunning. Finish your day with a nice relaxing visit to the Botanical Gardens also situated in Road Town.

Dining

Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served in Sebastian’s beachfront restaurant and you can also enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail on the terrace as the sun sinks below the horizon – very romantic.

Sebastian’s on the Beach is a short drive from other BVI bars and restaurants – you may wish to visit Tropical Fusion – a great local restaurant with a beachfront location and fabulous food, da Coal Pot at Carrot Bay for great local food, or the Sugar Mill hotel for that romantic dinner. Bananakeet is the place to go for stunning views and the famous “Sunday Poolside Brunch” with live entertainment. Enjoy “Sundowners” at sunset! All very close to Sebastian’s. If you wish to venture a bit further afield, Road Town, the capital of the British Virgin Islands has a vast selection of restaurants and is only 20 minutes away

Rent a jeep and explore the island of Tortola or laze on the beach with a rum punch and a good book. The choice is yours.

Travelling to the BVI

Travelling from the UK to the British Virgin Islands

The most direct way is from Gatwick to Antigua with British Airways and onwards to Tortola with inter-Caribbean Airways, which is also a non-stop flight. Virgin Atlantic fly from Heathrow to Antigua and the onward flight is with inter-Caribbean Airways to Tortola. Alternatively, BVI Holidays can charter a private aircraft just for you and your party. You will be met when you disembark your transatlantic flight and fast-tracked through immigration and customs and taken to your waiting aircraft.

Travelling from Scotland

Flights from Edinburgh and Glasgow can also be arranged to connect with the Gatwick and Heathrow flights on certain days. Flights from regional airports can be arranged through Paris or Amsterdam to St Maarten and onwards to the BVI.

Travelling from New York, Boston or Miami

If you would like to have a few nights in New York, Boston or Miami before heading to BVI, this can also be arranged. The onward flight is via Puerto Rico which is a 35 minute hop over to the British Virgin Islands or again, a private charter can be arranged.

There are no direct flights to the BVI which is why the islands remain unspoilt, uncrowded and uncommercialised. From the summer of 2023, there will be a flight from Miami direct to Tortola.
