Activities

Between the months of November and March, surf is generally up and Sebastian’s beach, otherwise known as Little Apple Bay or Capoons Bay, which is 3-4 minutes walk from the Seaside Villas is a popular spot for local and visiting surfers. If you do not have your own board, these can be rented at a very reasonable cost from Sebastian’s reception.

Soper’s Hole, West End, Tortola is less than 10 minutes drive and it is here you can book diving or a day sail with lunch and snorkelling included, to see some of the neighbouring British Virgin Islands.

Cane Garden Bay is less than 15 minutes drive from Sebastian’s and it is here you can enjoy another stunning beach and hire a kayak, sailing dinghy or a stand-up paddle board. A visit to the Callwood Rum Distillery also at Cane Garden Bay is a must. The history is interesting and so are the local rums!

A trip into Road Town, the capital of the BVI, takes about 20 minutes and here you can visit the Botanical Gardens and book an exhilarating tour with the Original Virgin Canopy Tour. This is similar to zip-lining but much safer and quieter. Enjoy spectacular views over Tortola and neighbouring British Virgin Islands.

You can also take a day trip to Virgin Gorda or Anegada and explore two very different islands in the beautiful BVI.

Dining

Sebastian’s has its own beachfront restaurant and bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and there is also a good choice of restaurants closeby. A trip into Road Town, the capital of the British Virgin Islands offers an excellent choice of restaurants and if you want to watch one of the big sporting events, while having some jerk chicken and Johnny cake, Captain Mulligan’s at Nanny Cay is only 10 minutes away and they show all the big games. The Sugar Mill restaurants are nearby, or for sunset cocktails and excellent food, Bananakeet restaurant at Carrot Bay is only a few minutes drive from Sebastian’s Seaside Villas.

Travelling to the BVI

Travelling from the UK to the British Virgin Islands

The most direct way is from Gatwick to Antigua with British Airways and onwards to Tortola with inter-Caribbean Airways, which is also a non-stop flight. Virgin Atlantic fly from Heathrow to Antigua and the onward flight is with inter-Caribbean Airways to Tortola. Alternatively, BVI Holidays can charter a private aircraft just for you and your party. You will be met when you disembark your transatlantic flight and fast-tracked through immigration and customs and taken to your waiting aircraft.

Travelling from Scotland

Flights from Edinburgh and Glasgow can also be arranged to connect with the Gatwick and Heathrow flights on certain days. Flights from regional airports can be arranged through Paris or Amsterdam to St Maarten and onwards to the BVI.

Travelling from New York, Boston or Miami

If you would like to have a few nights in New York, Boston or Miami before heading to BVI, this can also be arranged. The onward flight is via Puerto Rico which is a 35 minute hop over to the British Virgin Islands or again, a private charter can be arranged.

There are no direct flights to the BVI which is why the islands remain unspoilt, uncrowded and uncommercialised. From the summer of 2023, there will be a flight from Miami direct to Tortola.
