Villa Tamar

Villa Tamar has four master bedrooms of equal size, each with a walk-in wardrobe, plush king size bed, en-suite and private balcony or patio.

They feature traditional island architecture – wood-beamed ceilings, natural tile floors and Casablanca fans. Air-conditioning is provided in each bedroom.

Two of the master bedrooms in Villa Tamar are found on opposite corners of the Great Room level. Each has its own private balcony with views overlooking the villa’s gardens and the North Sound.

The two lower level master bedrooms are accessed via a spiral staircase from the Great Room, or directly from the outside via their own private patio and lower level entrances.

​Villa Tamar has an extremely spacious great room and kitchen area. There are two TVs in this area, but you may never turn them on once you catch a look at the views. Sliding glass doors surround the Great Room and provide breath-taking views all around. Flat screen TVs, DVD player, CD player plus a library of CDs are provided.

​The great room has plenty of room to relax. You can stretch out on the sofas, play a game, read a book or watch a movie in the nook. There are plenty of games and books at Villa Tamar for your enjoyment.

With a spacious kitchen, filled with new stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and everything you need to cook delicious meals, you will have a tough time deciding whether to go out or stay in! Just off the kitchen, you will find a large gas barbecue, perfect for cooking a meal for your friends or family.

There are two indoor dining tables at Villa Tamar, one casual and one formal, as well as ample breakfast-bar seating area in the kitchen, although you may choose to dine al fresco at the outdoor dining table, since you can’t beat the view!

Villa Tamar has a beautiful, infinity-style pool. Splash with the kids, or have a happy hour cocktail while watching the sunset. With unobstructed views of the Caribbean sea, Leverick Bay and the neighbouring British Virgin Islands, the pool balcony has plenty of tables, chairs and loungers for your entire group.

At Tamar Villa, you can also enjoy a game of pool. The table is located downstairs in a shady area where there is a fridge to keep your beverages chilled and a fan to keep you cool as you play.

For something a bit more strenuous, head to the air-conditioned work out room, where you will find a treadmill and weights. A TV and water cooler machine is also provided. You can also challenge your partner to a game of table-tennis.

​Villa Tamar provides complimentary wi-fi for all guests and there is even a telescope for star gazing or enjoying the stunning scenery of the neighbouring islands around Virgin Gorda.

If you just want to relax in the gardens with a cocktail, you can enjoy spectacular views of Saba Rock and Gun Creek. Laze in the wooden chairs, or on the glider, or swing on the swings and enjoy your time at the stunningly beautiful Villa Tamar.

All levels at Villa Tamar are accessible for wheelchairs.

The Restaurant at Leverick Bay on Virgin Gorda is only a few minutes’ drive from Villa Tamar and offers a wide selection of dishes to tempt your palate. For more casual lunchtime dining, The Cove, also at Leverick Bay, offers a wide menu choice and is situated right next to the beach and pool area. Jumbies Beach Bar is a fun place to experience your first of many Painkillers – the signature drink of the British Virgin Islands. They have “Happy Hour” every day and also serve lunch and dinner. In high season, Friday evenings at Jumbies Beach Bar is party night where you can dance on the sand and enjoy a delicious barbecue. You can also have dinner and dance the night away at nearby Saba Rock – complimentary water taxi provided. It’s fun to go out for the evening by boat!

Should you prefer to have some meals in the comfort of Tamar Villa, the Chef’s Pantry at Leverick Bay offers a great selection of groceries, fruit, bread, drinks etc., or you may wish to have your own private chef come to the villa and cook for you. This can easily be arranged.

More excellent restaurants on Virgin Gorda are only a short drive from Tamar – you will be spoilt for choice.

You will of course want to go exploring the rest of beautiful Virgin Gorda, therefore jeep hire is highly recommended unless you prefer to use the excellent and reliable local taxi services.

The beach at Leverick Bay is a few minutes’ drive away where you will find another swimming pool and Blue Rush Water Sports. Here – you are spoilt for choice – you can rent a Hobie Cat or kayak, try your skills at paddle boarding (great for core fitness), rent a Bradley powerboat, book a fishing trip to Anegada – said to be one of the best fishing spots in the Caribbean or – a real fun thing to do, is Fly Boarding offered by Blue Rush Water Sports at Leverick Bay.

Kiteboarding is fun and is also available at Leverick Bay with Up ‘n’ Under Watersports where instruction is offered to the uninitiated. Up ‘n’ Under also offer guided Kite Safaris around the BVI.

Dive BVI is located at the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour offering guided diving trips, full certification courses and introductory courses. The diving and snorkelling in the BVI is some of the best in the Caribbean including the world famous wreck of the RMS Rhone.

Travelling from the UK to the British Virgin Islands

The most direct way is from Gatwick to Antigua with British Airways and onwards to Tortola with inter-Caribbean Airways, which is also a non-stop flight. Virgin Atlantic fly from Heathrow to Antigua and the onward flight is with inter-Caribbean Airways to Tortola. Alternatively, BVI Holidays can charter a private aircraft just for you and your party. You will be met when you disembark your transatlantic flight and fast-tracked through immigration and customs and taken to your waiting aircraft.

Travelling from Scotland

Flights from Edinburgh and Glasgow can also be arranged to connect with the Gatwick and Heathrow flights on certain days. Flights from regional airports can be arranged through Paris or Amsterdam to St Maarten and onwards to the BVI.

Travelling from New York, Boston or Miami

If you would like to have a few nights in New York, Boston or Miami before heading to BVI, this can also be arranged. The onward flight is via Puerto Rico which is a 35 minute hop over to the British Virgin Islands or again, a private charter can be arranged.

There are no direct flights to the BVI which is why the islands remain unspoilt, uncrowded and uncommercialised. From the summer of 2023, there will be a flight from Miami direct to Tortola.
